For many Tresor Club fans, the ticket to capturing the essence of the underground feeling that Tresor has always represented, belongs to those who venture into the basement on Wednesdays for the new faces behind the decks. Every current techno star today was once a “new face” yesterday and these young DJs are the promise of the genre’s future, many of them already solidly based in their own club residencies yet now breaking into the German capital nightlife à la Tresor. Two progressive artists slap the vinyl with dynamo and gusto tonight: Abayomi was born and raised in London before moving to the heart of electronic music, Berlin, and became deeply inspired by the minimalist machine funk from Detroit and Chicago. His collaboration - under his production moniker Iroko - with Jerome Sydenham of Ibadan Records lead to his first vinyl release; he hosts the weekly radio show, “Basement Sessions” and is busy creating a cultural platform for underground music. Abayomi is also part of the Superb recordings roster – prolific! Australian artist Pat Woodley-Davis is PWD. The Public Works Department is dedicated to presenting the finest techno, electronic and bass-oriented music in Melbourne and beyond, as well as organizing tours of top international club artists. This evening’s new faces arena is under the professional guidance of Tresor Club resident Mareena.
