Party: Alejandro Escovedo

If anyone deserves to be regarded as the father of modern Americana, it has to be Alejandro Escovedo. His trailblazing career began as a member of San Francisco’s famed punk innovators The Nuns, who supported the Sex Pistols at their last ever show, and continued with Austin-based alt-country rock pioneers, Rank & File and True Believers. Countless all-star collaborations and tribute album appearances and a series of beloved solo albums beginning with 1992’s acclaimed Gravity have earned him a surplus of distinctions: No Depression magazine’s Artist of the Decade Award in 1998 and the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Performing in 2006 among many others.
