Since teaching herself to play guitar and sing at the age of 12 because she loved 00s pop­rock sensations Busted so much, 24­year­old Emma Blackery always had musical ambitions. Growing up an only child in a small Essex town, she skipped university due to crippling anxiety – but that was only a blessing in disguise.

Practically born a girl on the net, Emma’s quirky, witty personality attracted a mass online following during her teens and early twenties. Having originally created her YouTube channel to get her music heard, today she has over 1.1 million subscribers and more than 100 million views. She is the original alt YouTuber, standing alone from her peers for speaking out honestly on topics from depression and self­harm to jealousy – all with a self­depreciating humour and quick tongue. Naturally, she caught the attention of ELLE who named her one of ‘30 Women Under 30 Changing the World’, and was approached by YouTube superstar PewDiePie to be a founder member of the “Avengers­like talent squad” at his network ‘Revelmode’.
