Party: 2016 Somerton Shootout Surf Boat Twilight Carnival

The first twilight surfboat carnival in a number of years in South Australia is heading to Somerton beach on FRIDAY 2 DECEMBER and it will be HUGE! Make sure you print the poster and put up in your club and SHARE THE INFORMATION with your fellow boaties, family and friends. This is an event for all surf boat followers plus those who want to experience an action packed evening.

The Friday night SHOOTOUT will include varied race formats and a total prize pool of $2000 in cash and prizes! This includes CASH, Automasters vouchers, Brighton Foodland vouchers, slabs of beer and much more (details further down).

There will be LIVE MUSIC throughout the evening, the famous Somerton Buddy Bar and BBQ will be going from 4:30pm and the upstairs Bistro will be open from 6pm (bookings encouraged for the Bistro). It will be a perfect night at the Somerton SLSC with cheap drinks, live music, surf boat racing ... what more could you ask for!? Viewing will be from the top of the hill and with a NO TENT policy everyone will be up on the hill in between races having a great time watching the action.

Race format is as followed:

Dash for Cash briefing: 4:30pm
U19F, U19M, U23F, U23M, OF and OM Dash For Cash straight finals from 4:45pm - 5:20pm. Racing from the cans to the beach. 1st prize + random prize on offer in each race.

Short Course Racing briefing 5:30pm
Junior at this stage includes Under 23 and Under 19, Open Female and Open Male is open to any other crew. Due to timing restriction we don't have the capacity to offer more categories although encourage anyone to enter!
Two rounds of Junior Female, Junior Male, Open Female and Open Male to be conducted. DOUBLE RACE finals will be conducted after two rounds.

Presentations to be held at the clubhouse at approx 8:00pm.

The cost to enter is $10 per rower and sweep, entries are via the SLS Carnival Manager system and close at 5pm Monday 28 November. We will be capping entries (numbers TBC) so get in quick - entries will open on Monday 24 October.
