General Store & Co. sells goods, grog and grocery. There’s a whole village of us who own and run it together. Transcending from the U.S. Trading Posts (where grocers sold food, clothing and household items), which evolved into General Stores that sold everything including alcohol, groceries and all sorts of retail from watches to jeans to shoes and even guns (unlike our U.S. couterparts we aren’t selling Smith & Wessons but you can get some pretty sweet treads).
General Store & Co. is a venue for the people: a Melburnian village with bar, cafe, barber hovel, shoe store, clothing, imported special edition books and whatever canned grocery specials we can find and import from around the world. We are next to the Vic Market and we sell Hard Liquor till 3am, the same time our music finishes, along with the time our barber is trundling off home with a sackful of scalps and whiskers. We open back up in the morning for coffee, chilling on free wi-fi (feel free to hack into government encrypted sites to expose any liberties they are withholding), discovering hand selected organic goods and even newly imported clothing and books or, if you’re that way inclined, a stiff drink to sip on whilst the rest of the world heads to work.
As a crew we like to keep things fresh so we have grown a village garden, a courtyard with a four metre statue made from bread and milk crates with a veggie patch running through it (a bit of a climb, but still pretty handy as our mixologists can make sure you have fresh adornments on your drinks).
But enough about us, we’ll tell you about the post office lounge and bar we’ve imported from North America another time.
See you at the bar for a drink, you decide what you want to do after that.
Special events, private functions are also our speciality
