You will be the first one to know when pictures are uploaded!
(It got a bit crowded last Wednesday, we might have to monitor the attendance at this one- COME EARLY!)
Portland's own legendary purveyor of deep soul, Ural Thomas, will be bringing his well-oiled band of young talent to the Laurelthirst for a couple of free, roadhouse, juke-joint style shows!
Thomas' public return to music has been one of the great Portland stories of the last few years. Once a regular at Harlem's Apollo Theater and a colleague of James Brown, Otis Redding and other soul greats, Thomas walked away from the music business and settled into a quieter life in his hometown. In his 70s now, he's making up for lost time now with the Pain, a band of young guns led by drummer Scott Magee. With a hand from producer Nick Waterhouse, Thomas and the Pain have been at work on a full-length album -- one that revives lost Thomas classics and envisions new ones.
You're unlikely to catch The Pain in such an intimate setting again soon! Come on down!
