You will be the first one to know when pictures are uploaded!
This open level contact improvisation workshop will explore inner and outer spirals following the many double helix structures found thru the body and with a partner. Tracking, blending and harmonizing Center, enhancing the activity of physical listening and choice, entering and exiting dances, seeing/being space, and allowing the body’s relationship with gravity to do the talking. Lots of “standing around”, small dance practice, as prelude and interlude to copious open dancing.
Karen Nelson brings Tuning Improvisation and Material for the Spine to her 35-year practice of Contact Improvisation dancing, performing and teaching. Influenced as well by her studies in Aikido, Feldenkrais, Focusing , QiGong, NVC and meditation, she is compelled towards a holistic view of embodied dancing. She has collaborated on many projects including co-founding DanceAbility, Breitenbush Jam, Diverse Dance Research Retreat, and the performance group Image Lab. She teaches group retreats and workshops, works one to one, and performs her solo and collaborative work at home (Vashon Island, WA) and abroad.
