Party: Greg Clifford (Ireland)

Greg Clifford is a talented guitarist/musician from Dublin. Clifford’s style is an amalgamation of singer songwriter with rock, blues, jazz and folk. He also has a Bachelors in Music and Masters in Contemporary Composition to his name.

Clifford moved to Berlin in July 2014 to focus solely on song writing and invest more time in honing his skills. On 4th September he played a slot at 'First We Take The Streets' as part of Berlin Music Week.

'Sun Of The Jackal' (released April 2014) is Clifford's latest album. It's a 7 track acoustic offering. As put by Clifford, ‘this is a pure collection of songs with mass production being pushed aside. The songs are intimate and honest in terms of subject matter and how they are recorded and performed; any imperfections are not disguised. There's no pitch correction or removing breath sounds. Sometimes the recording technology takes over too much making many recordings seem contrived and lacking in character. They can be static as they're governed by the click track. On this album all vocal and guitar tracks are performed as live takes, with overdubbed piano, bass and percussion being added after the essence of the track is captured in the guitar/vocal performance. Recording something that sounded 'human’ is what I set out to do’. 'Who Do You Think You're Fooling' is the leading track off the mini album.

22nd November 2013 saw Clifford release his 'Confessions EP', an acoustically driven 3 track. He released his debut album 1st December 2012 and in June 2013 an EP entitled 'The Temple Lane Recordings' was also launched.

Aside from the popular music market, Clifford has toured internationally with the Diversus Guitar Ensemble and appeared in the National Concert Hall on a number of occasions, as well as working as an arranger and session guitarist/musician. He has also taken part in the RTE series ‘Instrumental’ (Autumn 2012), in which, along with 5 others, he learnt a new instrument in the space of 4 months. The show culminated in Clifford performing his own arrangement of his track ‘Changing Everyday’ on the clarinet with the backing of full scale orchestra.
